Matt Long is a country singer, songwriter, and guitarist from North Alabama. He grew up the son of a Southern Baptist minister, and his mother was an educator. Surrounded by cotton fields and old country churches, music and storytelling took root early in his life.
Although he discovered his singing voice as a teenager, Matt didn’t begin playing guitar until his twenties. Once he picked it up, he quickly developed a passion for rhythm guitar and songwriting, performing at local restaurants, bars, and churches. A year of lessons in Nashville introduced him to country guitar and the “chicken-pickin’” style that remains a signature of his playing today.
Over the years, Matt has fronted and performed with several bands, blending his love of country with blues, rock, jazz, and funk. In addition to his solo acoustic and electric shows across Nashville and North Alabama, Matt also leads The Matt Long Band, a high-energy trio known for its dynamic mix of country, rock, and blues.
He is currently working on his debut studio album, which will feature his own material as well as reimagined versions of songs that have inspired him. Matt’s music reflects his roots, his journey, and his excitement for the road ahead as both a guitarist and vocalist.
